Founded in 1887 by master craftsman Salvatore Capezio, cobbler to the Metropolitan Opera, Capezio quickly gained a reputation as the finest shoemaker for dancers and performers worldwide. His original shop became a legendary gathering place and shoe resource for storied dancers like Anna Pavlova. Capezio is the global leader in dance and a household name, widely known and cherished by dancers of all ages. With over 130 years of quality craftsmanship, dedicated customer service and timeless design to its name, Capezio has been making footwear and apparel that have inspired greatness in studios, on stages and runways worldwide. It is this rich heritage of supporting dance in all its forms and celebrating movement as a means of creative expression that has made it the brand of choice. The brand is headquartered in New Jersey, and has international offices in the United Kingdom, Australia and Asia.
Fitting in well with Capezio’s illustrious history, the National Theatre Ballet School is renowned for its excellence in classical ballet training, producing some of the most exquisite ballet dancers across the world. The school provides full-time professionally accredited training in classical ballet (Elite Performance) and an Emerging Artists program. Established in 1939, under the direction of Miss Jean Alexander, the National Theatre Ballet School today celebrates 80 years of dance excellence.
Capezio Australia is thrilled to enter into this partnership with the National Theatre Ballet School, says Graeme Taylor, managing director at Capezio Australia. “Located in the beautiful, historic National Theatre, we look forward to working with the wonderful team there and being part of an Australian institution in dance,” he says.
Damian Smith, artistic director of the National Theatre Ballet School, adds, “With the National Theatre Ballet School’s diverse programming and multiple annual productions, it is comforting to know Capezio is there for us with incredible quality and variety in dancewear. We are excited to be introducing to our school a beautiful quality new uniform range that is specific to the National Theatre Ballet School.”
