The Australian Ballet School has appointed internationally respected ballet educator and arts leader Anne Peyk to the newly created role of Deputy Head of School and Artistic Programs, following an extensive global search.
Peyk joins The Australian Ballet School from the Royal Danish Ballet School and will relocate to Australia to commence in January 2027.
Working closely with Artistic Director and Head of School Megan Connelly, Peyk will provide senior artistic and educational leadership across the School. The role supports student development, teaching excellence and program quality across the Full-Time, Interstate/International Training and Community Programs, while also serving as an important leadership link between students, families, and staff. Peyk will act as deputy to the Artistic Director and Head of School and play a key role in advancing the School’s artistic vision.
Peyk brings extensive international experience as a dancer, ballet master, educator and arts leader. A graduate of both the John Cranko School, Stuttgart and the University of Copenhagen, she has worked with The Chemnitz Ballet, Tivoli Ballet Theater, Royal Danish Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Finnish National Ballet and Hamburg Ballet.
During her 13 years as Ballet Master with the Royal Danish Ballet, Peyk worked with many of the world’s leading choreographers, including John Neumeier, Alexei Ratmansky, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Christopher Wheeldon and Wayne McGregor.
She has also held significant leadership positions as Artistic Director of the Royal Danish Ballet School and Tivoli Ballet School, and is the co-founder of Dance Science Denmark, an organisation dedicated to dancer health and injury prevention.
Peyk said, “I am absolutely delighted to be joining The Australian Ballet School team. The School is world-famous for its exceptional training and its dedication to dancer health and wellbeing, and I couldn’t be more excited to work with the team under the inspiring, progressive leadership of Megan Connelly and Sarah Hunt.”
The appointment further strengthens The Australian Ballet School’s commitment to world-class ballet training, educational excellence, dancer wellbeing and artistic leadership.
