New York’s esteemed Joffrey Ballet School will soon hold auditions in Australia for its 2018 Summer Programs and Trainee Programs. Dancers aged 12 to 25 are invited to audition in Brisbane on August 3, Sydney on August 4 and 5, Melbourne on August 6, or Perth on August 7.

Joffrey Ballet School’s Summer Programs are offered around the USA and world, with intensives being held in its home of NYC as well as Georgia, Texas, Colorado, California, Florida and even Italy. Students ages 8 and up can find a training program just for them.
The school’s Ballet Trainee Program is a four-year course that is offered in NYC and Texas, providing rigorous and valuable training for the serious ballet student. The school’s Jazz & Contemporary Trainee Program prepares artists for the competitive working world of dance in the fields of concert dance, Broadway shows, commercial industrials, and national and international tours. The new artistic director of this program is the legendary Mia Michaels.

The upcoming Australian auditions will take the form of a ballet class. Those dancers wishing to audition specifically for the school’s jazz and contemporary dance programs should prepare a short jazz or contemporary dance solo between one and two minutes. This will be performed at the end of the ballet class.
The dress code requires females to wear the classic black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes or pointe shoes. Males must wear black tights, a white fitted t-shirt and white or black ballet shoes.
