Force Majeure has announced that Executive Director Amy Morcom will step down in June after three and a half years in the role.

Morcom has been a key figure in the company’s leadership, supporting artists, partnerships and projects with care, rigour and generosity. Her contributions have helped shape both the company’s culture and its ambitious body of work.

Her departure coincides with a significant leadership transition. Nick Power was recently appointed as Artistic Director and CEO, combining the artistic and chief executive roles into one position. Morcom has been working closely with Power on future planning and will ensure a smooth handover over the coming months.

Reflecting on her decision, Morcom said, “It was a very difficult decision, particularly as I’ve been having such a great time cooking up plans with Nick. Knowing the company has another strong leader at the helm, it feels like the right moment for me to close this chapter, take a pause, and move into new learnings and adventures. I know I’ll miss some impressive and meaningful work with Nick and the company – the FOMO is real! – but I’m excited to see where the company goes next.”

Morcom added, “It’s been a privilege to hold this position at Force Majeure and to work with the remarkable humans in our orbit: our legendary staff and Board, Associate Artists, the wider community of artists, supporters and sector colleagues. Special mention, of course, to my primary partners-in-art, former Artistic Director Danielle Micich and current AD Nick Power.”

“This company and its people have moved me greatly and my time at Force Majeure will leave a lasting impact on me,” said Morcom. “I’m excited for the next person who comes into the company to embark on great adventures with Nick and the team.”

Force Majeure expressed gratitude for Morcom’s significant contribution and wished her well in her future endeavours. The company looks forward to continuing its program of work and building on this next phase of leadership.

Force Majeure has now opened recruitment for a new Executive Producer as it enters this new era under Nick Power’s combined leadership as Artistic Director and CEO. In the restructured leadership model, the Executive Producer will take on senior operational and producing responsibilities, working closely alongside Power.

With new work currently in development across Australia and the Pacific, the company is pursuing a bold new direction that includes street dance, contemporary performance practice, long-term community engagement and sector development. The new Executive Producer will play a key role in this exciting next chapter.

Applications close on Sunday 3 May. For more information on the position and how to apply, visit forcemajeure.com.au.
