Star of stage and screen Lucy Durack has had a glittering career to date and is still charming audiences as one of Australia’s most well-known leading ladies. Vitality will chat to Lucy about her career, the secrets to her success, and how she became the proud co-founder and co-director of evidence-based health and wellness tech company and CSIRO tested app Hey Lemonade, an app that acts as a circuit breaker for everyday stress to activate people’s optimism when dealing with life’s lemons.

How do I make the most of choreographing with my students?

There are few more recognised for their choreographic talent and collaborative approach than Australia’s own Natalie Weir (who we spoke to earlier this year). Vitality will sit down to chat with this prolific and in demand choreographer before getting a chance to see her at work choreographing live in the studio. Weir is known for her works of great intricacy and complexity that entrance the audience and enrich the artistry of the dancers she works with. Here’s your chance to examine how she get the most out of a dancer in the studio.

How do I find my path?

As a young dancer, Emma Watkins dreamed of a professional ballet career. When injury put paid to that dream, she found a surprising new purpose and direction as a children’s entertainer, ultimately carving a unique niche in the market specialising in visual communication and sign language alongside singing and dancing. Vitality will talk to Watkins directly about her career path and the creation of her new alter ego, Emma Memma.

How do teaching and holistic education come together?

Director of The Australian Ballet School Lisa Pavane is stepping down this year after almost a decade in the role and a 46-year relationship with the school. The founder of Band-ITS & Strength4Dance, a business dedicated to injury prevention and creating a strong body for a lifetime of dance will be on hand all weekend to offer her expertise to dancers and educators alike.

How do I teach my students to partner successfully?

No one knows how best to partner in dance more than Jarryd Byrne. As a Dancing with the Stars Champion, winning with actress and comedian Celia Pacquola, Byrne has a wealth of tips for partnering cohesion. Strap on your dance shoes and explore different holds, combinations, choreography and more in this fun filled practical opportunity to move and be moved!

How do I make my studio more inclusive?

With increasing behavioural challenges and sensory needs of students, teachers need to be able to assess and make necessary accommodations to provide an optimal learning environment. Tricia Gomez (broadcasting live from her home in the US) will help teachers gain an understanding of behavior and highlight common sensory challenges often encountered in class.

How do I capitalise on the hype surrounding breakdancing being an Olympic Sport for the first time in July 2024?

We’re pumped to hear breaking is going to be included in this year’s Olympics in Paris in July. Vitality will be hearing from AUSBreaking’s Lowe Napalan and Dr Rachael Gunn AKA ‘Raygun’ one of Australia’s Olympic breaking athletes, about how you can make the most of the excitement surrounding the Olympic debut and bring breakdance to your dance studio as an additional revenue stream.
