Dancewear brand Energetiks has unveiled its new limited edition collection, Kaleidoscope, full of colourful and fun patterns that will bring a “splash” to your dance drawer. Graphic Designer Thalia Carter describes the new designs as “vivacious and full of energy, an instant cure for a bad mood or lack of motivation.”
Inspired by dance parties, music festivals, lasers, abstract art and Energetiks’ fun-loving customers, Carter says, the Kaleidoscope collection will add some flair to your style and some eye-catching attention for your next class or audition.
“This collection is super fun!” adds Elysia Mangier, marketing manager at Energetiks. “It’s bright and engaging, playful and confident. I really think it will make you feel amazing wearing Kaleidoscope; you’ll be ready to take on everything life has to offer you.”
Dance Informa Model Search Winner Ella McMillan was among the first to try out the new collection, during an exciting photo shoot with her and a couple friends. The 15-year-old, who trains at the Joanne O’Kelly School of Dance in Melbourne, says she absolutely loves the Kaleidoscope collection.
“It is so colourful and fun,” she tells Dance Informa. “You can choose to go head-to-toe print or mix and match the print with some of the plainer coloured pieces. It is great for all aged dancers, young or old. It’s one of my favourite Energetiks collections!”
During McMillan’s recent photo shoot, she and her two best friends, Tess and Paris, got hair and makeup done and then shot photos inside a limo outside the Energetiks offices in Melbourne.
“We had the best time!” McMillan says. “We lived a rockstar life for a day, eating lollies, riding in the limo and having a great time with the Energetiks crew. At the end, of course we all chose exactly the same outfit as our favourite.”
McMillan is a longtime fan of Energetiks and says the brand has something for everyone, with such a wide variety of styles and colours. “And I love that they are Australian-made,” she adds.
And behind the vibrant prints and beautiful designs of the Energetiks products, there are designers like Carter who work hard to see their visions come to life.
“Receiving the production samples is really exciting because the artwork has evolved from my computer screen, to a length of fabric, to a real product that is useful, beautiful and unique,” Carter shares. “Finally seeing it on the audience I’ve designed it for and their reaction is also a great feeling.”
Of McMillan’s Kaleidoscope photo shoot, Carter adds, “Ella, Paris and Tess were the perfect dancers for this collection, they looked amazing, and they’re all best friends in real life, so they were heaps of fun together on the set.”
“Ella was an excellent choice as our Model Search winner back in 2016,” Mangier adds. “On top of her dance talent, she has a very engaging yet relatable appearance, and her down-to-earth nature comes across beautifully in her photographs. We love that she appeals to so many of our followers as an inspiration; she can carry both a younger look as well as a more mature look. We have seen her grow up into a beautiful young woman over the past two years of working with her across Oriental Bloom, Linkd and Kaleidoscope campaigns. We’re very excited about her future with Energetiks and as a dancer.”
McMillan says she feels lucky to have been chosen by Energetiks to represent this new collection, and this is surely just the beginning of her greatness as a dancer. “One of my dance goals is to dance in a company and travel the world,” she reflects. “I still love all genres so haven’t fully decided which direction I’ll take. I would love to work with Stacey Tookey, and loved her workshops at Victorian Dance Festival this year. Also, Sydney Dance Company is amazing.”
It seems that McMillan is clearly inspired for her path, and Carter hopes that other dancers, too, will feel rejuvenated and determined with the Energetiks Kaleidoscope collection. “I hope Kaleidoscope will inspire dancers to show up to rehearsal and give it their all,” she says.
Energetiks’ Kaleidoscope Collection has now hit the shelves online at www.energetiks.com.au and in stores. Snap it up quick before it sells out.
