For the first time since his appointment in 2021, Australian Dance Theatre (ADT) Artistic Director Daniel Riley is holding auditions for a new Company Artist to join the company’s ensemble of dancers.

“We’re looking for artists who are generous, collaborative and take a lateral approach to the creation of dance works,” ADT stated on its website. Applicants must be Australian citizens and have at least two years of professional dance experience (or equivalent). “We’re excited to hear from dance artists that are both emerging and established, who are working independently, with companies or who have a broad, cross-disciplinary practice.”

Auditions will be held in Sydney (Gadigal Country) on 7 – 8 September and in Adelaide (Kaurna Country) on 13 – 14 September. They will be led by Riley, Artistic Associate Brianna Kell and an ADT Company Artist.

The first day of auditions will be comprised of creative tasks, improvisations and learning repertoire. On the second day, selected artists will be interviewed and work intensively with the ADT artistic team. Dancers must be available for both days in their selected city.

EOIs are now open close on Friday 16 August, with applicants notified of the outcome by Wednesday 21 August. Click here to learn more.
