Presenting its 10th anniversary production, Time Will Tell Re-Imagined, in the theatre that hosted its launch production, Too Soon to Tell, back in 2011, you could say Austinmer Dance Theatre has gone full circle.

The Illawarra’s only pre-professional company for elite contemporary dancers aged 17-25 years, the aim of the company is to bridge the gap between full-time training, tertiary education and a professional dance career. Austinmer’s unique program provides training and skills development through a diversity of national and international professional artists, providing them with employment and the opportunity to refine their practice and performance skills. Previous company dancers have forged exciting careers internationally because of the training and professional experience gained through their position with the company.

Time Will Tell Re-Imagined is a triple bill made up of strong, diverse, original contemporary dance pieces created for Austinmer Dance Theatre by three women with an evident passion for contemporary dance and working with emerging artists.

Emma Saunders’ I’m Trying Not to Sweat the Small Stuff is a 15-minute new dance work for the stage. It is innovative and experimental through its intersection between process and product.

Former company member Rhiannon Davies returns to create her first piece as part of the primary season. Well known for her stunning work regularly featured as part of the annual uNCOILEd productions, Austinmer is thrilled to welcome Davies to the main stage with her piece, Connected Disconnect

Completing the trio is Austinmer’s Artistic Director, Michelle Maxwell’s S I F T I N G. Featuring a cast of former company members, returning for this 10th anniversary production, S I F T I N G embodies the many layers, challenges, highs and lows that have contributed to where Austinmer Dance Theatre sits in its 10th year. Sifting through what seems like a creative jungle at times, this collaborative piece brings together the cast and creator’s skills and talents, arriving at the final result for the audience.

Austinmer Dance Theatre will present Time Will Tell Re-Imagined at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre’s Bruce Gordon Theatre from 25 – 26 June. For bookings, visit merrigong.com.au/shows/time-will-tell-re-imagined.
