Sydney Dance Company holds virtual sessions for Pre-Professional Year 2021

Sydney Dance Company’s Head of Training Linda Gamblin and Pre-Professional Year Course Co-ordinator Omer Backley-Astrachan will host virtual open sessions on Tuesday August 11 and Sunday August 23 for dancers and families of dancers interested in auditioning for the company’s 2021 Pre-Professional Year program. 

Consisting of a 45-minute contemporary improvisation class and a 15-minute Q&A, the sessions will allow potential applicants to experience the teaching philosophies of Pre-Professional Year and ask any questions they have about the program. 

Dancers who wish to participate in the improvisation class can join from the commencement of the session, while parents or family members who wish to hear more information about the course but do not wish to partake in the class can join 45 minutes into the session.

Sydney Dance Company’s Pre-Professional Year provides a unique opportunity for aspiring professional dancers aged 18 to 24 years to experience full-time training with Sydney Dance Company. 

Led by Sydney Dance Company’s Head of Training Linda Gamblin, the Pre-Professional Year is designed as a one-year industry experience course. Pre-Professional Year dancers work with over 35 national and international contemporary choreographers and industry specialists each year offering access to a variety of unique movement philosophies and techniques.
