After a festive run at the iconic Sydney Opera House, The Australian Ballet’s beautiful production of Coppélia, the last in The Fairy Tale Series, will be screened in Australian cinemas beginning the weekend of April 29 and 30. Starring Ako Kondo and Chengwu Guo in the lead roles, the ballet will be screened for a limited time.

This production is a revived sparkling tale of magic and mischief, recreated by The Australian Ballet’s founding Artistic Director Peggy van Praagh and Theatre Director George Ogilvie. Dancers are exquisitely dressed by Master Designer Kristian Fredrikson.

Set to Leo Delibes’ cheery score, Coppélia is a spectacular production, full of sorcery and masquerade, romance and fun – this just might be the sunniest ballet you’ll see all year.

The Australian Ballet Artistic Director David McAllister stated, “It’s exciting to take our company and performances from the stage to the big screen and to reach audiences we may not have otherwise reached. This is an incredible opportunity to showcase Australia’s national ballet company.”
