The new production Tinkerbell and the Dream Fairies from Australia’s renowned outdoor theatre producers is coming to the Royal Botanic Garden in Sydney for the first time ever. Playing the Easter holidays from April 9 to 30, the show is fresh from a sell-out tour to London’s Kew Gardens.
In Tinkerbell and the Dream Fairies, the adventurous Tinkerbell happens upon the fairies from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Travelling from the Dream Land, the cheeky Mustardseed, fluttery Moth, daring Cobweb and sweet Peasblossom all go on a magical quest with Tinkerbell, learning about the different worlds they are from.
The award-winning artistic director of the Australian Shakespeare Company, Glenn Elston, imagined this special show for young audiences from many years spent creating theatre in magical garden settings.
“In all the years we performed A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the gardens, the fairies always entranced our smallest spectators. Building the fairies into a show for children – with the mischievous Tinkerbell – seemed like a natural fit. The wonderful response in London as well as in Melbourne makes us feel like we’re onto a good thing!” Elston exclaimed.
The show was developed with early learning experts to ensure it truly engages and inspires young minds and bodies.
Audience members are invited to come dressed as a fairy or an elf and join in the singing and dancing and then go on a special adventure to “Bubble Land”, where the audience is asked to help Tinkerbell and her Fairy Friends find their wings. So pack a picnic and join in the magic!
