Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) Shows & Entertainment are back in Australia this month to audition dancers for roles across their incredible fleet at Victorian Dance Festival (VDF) 2025 in Melbourne. Dancers are spoilt for choice with opportunities across Norwegian Cruise Line, Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Oceania Cruises.

Norwegian Cruise Line visits VDF every year to present a fun and valuable cruise repetoire masterclass, as well as audition Australian talent. Many Australian performers have received coveted contracts with NCLH at VDF over the years and are currently travelling the world and enjoying varied and exciting careers.

So, how can you stand out and have success in your cruise audition at VDF? Here, Dance Informa speaks with three representatives at NCLH on board their newest vessel, the Norwegian Aqua, to give you the insight.

Robert Dean Hertenstein
Senior Artistic Director, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings

“Be flexible and confident. I think we’re always looking for a confident dancer who knows who they are, but that is willing to expand outside of that. I feel we’ve created a world where that is supported.”

Bryan White
Vice President of Entertainment Production, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings

“We look for professionalism. That’s part of getting the job, but that’s also part of keeping the job. It’s also a part of standing out and getting more great opportunities. It’s about your sense of professionalism, honing your sense of maturity and bringing that to work every single day.”

Nyla Walker
Dance Captain, Norwegian Aqua

“I tell every dancer that I talk to about auditions to not go in nervous thinking that it’s an audition. It’s not life or death. Don’t put pressure on yourself. You’re here and you’re where you need to be at that point. Just appreciate that for what it is. It’s really just another class that you’re taking, and you’re just here for the experience. Whether or not you make it through the audition process and you get a yes or a no, it’s all going to help you in the end. If you get a no and it’s not the opportunity for you, you know how to conduct yourself for that next one.”

Chookas, dancers! See you at VDF on May 24 and 25.
