Lucy Guerin Inc (LGI), in partnership with the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA), will present NEWRETRO, a new performance installation by leading Australian choreographer Lucy Guerin, celebrating 21 years of Lucy Guerin Inc and premiering this March.

Featuring a cast of 21 exceptional dancers, NEWRETRO reconfigures and reimagines choreographic ideas, structures and excerpts from LGI’s impressive archive, to create a new long-form production inhabiting the iconic galleries of the ACCA.

“The making of NEWRETRO has been exhilarating and occasionally confronting as the past meets the present. Having several generations of dancers in the same room at the same time is like a living archive, where the physical imprints of all the dancers I have worked with come together as a single body of work,” said Guerin.

While reflective in its concept, NEWRETRO defies description as a retrospective, bringing past ideas and different generations into a new relationship to the present moment. It is an exhilarating celebration of the dancers, the artform and a significant body of work.

Lucy Guerin Inc’s NEWRETRO will be presented 25 March – 2 April at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Melbourne. For more information, visit lucyguerininc.com/works/newretro.
