What a surreal and unsettling time we have all been living through, particularly for those in the dance and performing arts industries with studios, theatres and all live events closed for the foreseeable future.
One such event, the beloved Victorian Dance Festival (VDF), had to be postponed, just three weeks out from the much anticipated April 2020 event. But never fear, the directors of VDF have been working around the clock to provide Australian dancers and dance educators with resources and inspiration during this tough time, unveiling the new VDF Podcast, now available on Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts.
The VDF Podcast, brought to you by Dance Informa and Energetiks dancewear, sees Melbourne-based artist and journalist Lara Bianca Pilcher speaking with Australian industry leaders like Yvette Lee, Zoee Marsh, Tim Podesta, Trevor Santos and more, as well as international stars.
Eight episodes have already dropped, with the latest two being from Matthew Prescott of the Joffrey Ballet School New York, and celebrated urban choreographer Arna Singleton. This new podcast, labeled “The voice of dance”, is proving very popular as artists such as Nadia Tornese talk about navigating this crisis, as well as their exciting careers, and plans for the future, sharing nuggets of wisdom and inspiring advice.
With more new episodes ready for release this week, the VDF podcast provides a burst of creativity and a feeling of connection. Subscribe free and take a listen to brighten your day during these trying times.
