This year, interest in the McDonald’s Ballet Scholarships has hit an all time high. Organisers at Sydney Eisteddfod have 154 entries logged into their computer and say this new record further indicates the growing popularity of dance.
The preliminary classes, heats, quarter and semi finals will run from 20-26 July, while the grand final will take place in the Concert Hall at Sydney Opera House on Sunday, 8 August. Seats for this gala event are selling fast, so those wishing to attend should book without delay.
On 25 July, Wim Broeckx, director of the Dance Department of the Royal Conservatoire, The Hague, and Artistic President of the International Prix de Lausanne, will be holding Intermediate and Advanced Workshops at The Dance Spot Studios, Randwick. Bookings can made online through the Sydney Eisteddfod website www.sydneyeisteddfod.com.au, but as class numbers are strictly limited, places will be allocated on a ‘first in’ basis.
Although entries in the 2010 McDonald’s Sydney Eisteddfod have now officially closed, organisers are continuing to accept late registrations for an additional fee on a ‘space available’ basis.
The 2010 McDonald’s Sydney Eisteddfod will open on 1 June and close with another spectacular Dance of the Champions on 26 September.
