The cabaret event of the year, the inaugural season of Cabaret at TEATRO, Sydney’s newest theatre, is set to take over the Italian Forum theatre this November in one of the biggest star-studded line-ups across a limited three-week season.
Presented by Gale Edwards and Max Lambert in association with On Your Feet Pty Ltd and TEATRO, the program of some of Australia’s biggest performers includes iOTA, Ursula Yovich, Genevieve Lemon, Michael Cormick, Rachael Beck, John O’Hara, Debora Krizak, Amy Lehpamer, Bobby Fox, Stellar Perry, Minnie Cooper, Ryan González, Marney McQueen and Bernadette Robinson.
“TEATRO in Leichardt promises to be an exciting addition to the Arts scene in Sydney, with plays, musicals, classes, concerts! Cabaret is just the beginning,” said Gale Edwards. “I’m so excited to be involved and part of Nathan and Andrew’s daring vision, and to work with such a thrilling line up of Australian artists.”
Max Lambert added, “Sydney used to have many cabaret venues, Kinsellas, The Tilbury, Cafe Nine to name just a few. I’m thrilled TEATRO is reigniting the flame for both audiences and performers. I welcome the renaissance.”
Kicking off the season, critically acclaimed multi-hyphenate iOTA returns on November 4–5 with iOTA In the Dark, captivating audiences with his chaotic charisma and incredible vocals, described by GlamAdelaide as “enchanting to watch in full stride.”
On November 6–7, Ursula Yovich presents All the Stars We Let Go, an immersive evening of songs and stories from the multi-award-winning performer. Genevieve Lemon, fresh from Sister Act, takes the stage on November 8 with The Jimmy Webb Song Book, interpreting hits like MacArthur Park and Wichita Lineman from her 40-year career.
On November 9, Michael Cormick, known for starring roles in The Phantom of the Opera and Beauty and the Beast, delivers A Night with Michael Cormick, followed by a duet performance with lifelong friend and co-star Rachael Beck in You and I on November 12, promising a unique showcase of their shared chemistry.
John O’Hara, celebrated for roles in Wicked and Tina The Tina Turner Musical, offers an intimate cabaret experience on November 11 with That’s Not Your Light, John!. On November 13, Debora Krizak, currently playing Miss Hannigan in Annie, charms with An Evening with Debora Krizak, while Amy Lehpamer enchants on November 14 with Golden, The Best of Music Theatre’s Golden Age, drawing on her starring roles in The Sound of Music and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.
Bobby Fox, the versatile Irish-born performer who originated Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys, dazzles as an all-round entertainer on November 15, lauded by Limelight for his “fine tenor voice and comedic prowess.” Stellar Perry, fresh from Jesus Christ Superstar, lights up the stage on November 16 with Bloody Oath!, followed by Sydney drag icon Minnie Cooper’s There’s Nothing Like a Dame on November 18, showcasing her talents from RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under.
Ryan González takes audiences on a nostalgic journey with Songs I’ve Never Sung on November 19, performing beloved songs from their career in Moulin Rouge and Jersey Boys. Marney McQueen returns to her comedy cabaret roots on November 20 with Songs About Boats, fresh off her acclaimed role as Celine Dion in Titanique.
Closing the season on November 21–22, Bernadette Robinson’s DivaStating astonishes with her virtuoso impersonations of iconic voices like Judy Garland, Maria Callas, and Kate Bush, cementing her status as a world-class performer celebrated from Australia to London’s West End. This vibrant season offers an unmissable celebration of music, storytelling, and theatrical brilliance.
