Brisbane will host the first-ever Australian edition of the GCDANCE International Auditions, a groundbreaking event connecting local dancers with world-renowned ballet and contemporary companies, schools, and directors.
From 16–18 January 2026, Promenade Dance Studio (Kedron, QLD) will welcome dancers aged 14 and above to participate in a unique three-day experience, offering direct international opportunities without leaving Australia.
For the past five years, GCDANCEVENTS has successfully run auditions across Europe, Asia, and South America, helping more than 1,000 dancers annually find professional placements and academy admissions. Now, this life-changing event is coming to Australian shores.
Over the course of three days, dancers will take part in masterclasses, repertoire coaching, and solo showcases before auditioning in front of a distinguished jury featuring directors from leading companies such as: Houston Ballet (USA), Royal New Zealand Ballet (NZ), Ballet de Monterrey (Mexico), Ballet de Barcelona (Spain), Ajkun Ballet Theatre (USA), Étoile Ballet Theatre (Italy), Joffrey Ballet School (USA), Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School (USA), and Europa Ballet (Austria).
Audition participants will gain access to a wide range of exciting opportunities, including professional contracts with international ballet companies, trainee and apprentice programs designed to bridge the gap between study and professional careers, and academy admissions for dancers still completing their training. Additionally, participants can secure short-term production and tour contracts, earn placements in global summer intensives, and have the chance to become a So Danca Ambassador, receiving free dancewear for a year.
“Bringing GCDANCE to Australia opens doors for dancers who might not otherwise be seen by international directors,” says Giuseppe Canale, Artistic Director and founder of GCDANCEVENTS. “This event eliminates the need for costly travel to multiple countries—opportunities come directly to Brisbane.”
He continues, “Having worked in Australia for four years prior to the foundation of GCDANCEVENTS, I personally experienced how challenging it can be for Australian dancers to access international audition opportunities, mainly due to the country’s geographical distance and the high travel costs involved. GCDANCEVENTS is committed to bringing these opportunities directly to Australia, creating a more accessible and successful path for dancers by gathering multiple international opportunities and directors in one place.”
Co-organizer Ross Freddie Ray, acclaimed choreographer and dance curator, adds: “Australia has an extraordinary pool of talent. We’re excited to give these dancers the global visibility they deserve.”
Registration is now open GCDANCE’s Brisbane Auditions. Limited spots are available to ensure every dancer receives personal visibility with the international jury. For registration and enquiries, contact gcdanceventsaustralia@gmail.com. For more information, visit www.gcdancevents.com
