The thrilling 2025 Victorian Dance Festival (VDF25) has come to a close, but the effects of the inspiring event continue to trickle through everyone in attendance – participating dancers, studios, sponsors, event staff and visitors.

Emilee Anderson, senior manager of 42nd Street Tours, was one such visitor, travelling all the way from the US for her first visit to Australia. A few months ago, 42nd Street Tours, which was premium sponsor of this year’s VDF25, announced that it is expanding to offer its services to Australian dance studios. The company manages tour groups for dance education and training, and helps to enrich dance studios’ performing and learning experiences.

Here, Anderson gives us a glimpse into her Australia visit and what she took away from her VDF experience.

How was your trip to Australia and to VDF?

“My very first time to Australia was amazing! After the shock of driving on the opposite side of the road, I found Australia to be lovely! My first day, I ventured to the zoo and got to get up close and personal with a koala! When you said Melbourne had the best coffee, you were not kidding, and it is strong! I was up and running after a cup and ready to take on my time at VDF!”

What did you notice about the dance scene in Australia while you were there – the dancers, their work ethic, studio culture, the environment at VDF?

“The dancers that I watched at VDF were fabulous! They put their whole selves into their performance and were captivating to watch. Bravo, dancers!”

I’m sure studio owners were excited to meet you and hear that 42nd Street Tours will be offering its services to Australian studios! What kind of feedback did you get?

“It was so nice to meet some new friends in Australia! I’m excited to work with new studios and provide them more performance and learning opportunities in the states. Unlike other companies that offer travel, we focus the travel experience to each individual studio and their needs.”

What sorts of things did you learn and take away from your trip to Australia and VDF?

“My goodness, number one thing I learned, Australian scones are to die for! Those are amazing and we need those in the States! I also spent over an hour in Coles looking at groceries! Jokes aside, VDF has such a supportive and positive energy. Everyone was a new friend and eager to answer any questions I had about where I should be going, what I should do next, or even willing to lend a hand setting up.”

What unique things can 42nd Street Tours offer Australian studios and tour groups?

“Since we specialize in working with each studio, we can help with any needs that may arise. Each group that travels has an on-site guide with them to help with anything during the tour and make sure that the tour not only meets but exceeds expectations and your trip to the states is just as welcoming as mine was to Australia.”

Is there any other 42nd Street Tours news that you’d like to share?

“We are kicking off dance tours to Disneyland Paris, and also offering cruises from Australia and New Zealand!”
