This month’s Dance Informa Australia edition cover is an image created and photographed by one of Australia’s leading dance photographers, Leah Hoffman from Hoffa Studios Photography. Hoffman, who specialises in fine art dance portraits, is based in Melbourne where the Victorian Dance Festival (VDF) is held.
This year, Dance Informa teamed up with Hoffa Studios Photography and VDF to give dancers at the event an exhilarating experience and a dream-making opportunity.
VDF welcomes thousands of enthusiastic dancers to Melbourne every year to pour their heart out on the dance floor. The next generation of dance stars were given the chance to demonstrate their talent in front of photographer Hoffman, who captured their moves live at the event. Hoffman’s shots were imported into special edition Dance Informa VDF24 covers that were gifted to dancers to enjoy at home and impress friends on social media.
Among them, young Milla Hall’s breathtaking fire bird jump stood out, captivating the teams here at Dance Informa, VDF and Hoffa Studios Photography. Her beautiful leap earned her the prize of a professional portrait session with Hoffa Studios to create the cover for the August/September 2024 edition.
Thrilled to be chosen, Hall shares, “I love reading Dance Informa and reading about all the upcoming workshops and performances. I love looking at all the images of the super talented dancers!”
For Hall, the whole experience was nothing short of magical. “I absolutely love VDF. It’s my favourite part of the year. I love getting to learn from so many talented choreographers and learning unique styles that we don’t always have access to such as Afro-fusion and Latin; they were heaps of fun. After an amazing two days, I love getting to watch the Ignite show and watch all the incredible dancers perform on the stage. This year was my third year, and I will definitely be back for 2025.”
As part of her prize, Hall enjoyed a lavish pampering session with professional hair and makeup, followed by an exclusive photoshoot featuring Hoffa Studios Photography’s iconic fabric looks.
She says, “It was so fun getting my hair and makeup done and working with Leah to help her vision come to life. She is so nice and so talented. We had heaps of fun. I can’t wait to go back for my next shoot.”
The cover’s theme depicts the transition from winter to spring – something we are all welcoming after a very cold winter so far.
When asked about her hopes for the future, Hall says, “I love any opportunity to perform onstage and do what I love. I hope to get into full-time and continue to grow as a dancer. I want to seize every opportunity.”
Congratulations, Milla Hall, on becoming a stunning dance model and an inspiration to many!
