Studio owners, has this been one of the toughest challenges of your life? One day, your studio is running smoothly and full of smiling young faces, and the next day, you have to close your doors amid a worldwide pandemic! Sounds like a movie plot, right?! Unfortunately, this has been the reality for small business owners the world over, and a depressing and stressful new normal for dance teachers and studio owners.
While we miss our dancers and struggle with producing online classes, keeping students engaged, and enrolled, Dance Informa spoke with Will Centurion, Performing Arts Counsellor and Life Coach to gather some advice and inspiration for studio owners at this challenging time.
A sought after speaker across Australia with an impressive musical theatre resume, Centurion was booked to hold a seminar titled the “The Dance Teacher’s Mental Health Tool Kit” at Victorian Dance Festival’s Vitality Teacher Day, back in April, but the event had to be postponed until spring. Don’t we all wish we had received that tool kit in time for this crisis?
Here, Centurion speaks to us via the new VDF Podcast, hosted by Dance Informa’s Lara Bianca Pilcher, to share tools and strategies for keeping your connection, creativity, passion and purpose. He discusses grief, stress, change, growth and patience. Take a listen below:
The VDF Podcast is brought to us by Dance Informa and Energetiks.
