Young Ella McMillan of Victoria is Energetiks’ newest dance model! The 13 year old is the winner of the Energetiks and Dance Informa model search held this July and August, with prizes including a photo shoot with the leading dancewear company, $250 of Energetiks products, and the chance to star on the October cover of Dance Informa magazine!
With hundreds of gorgeous entrants from all across Australia, Ella is so excited to have been chosen. “I was completely shocked and surprised,” she says upon the announcement. “My mum suggested that I enter as I have always loved Energetiks clothing and I thought it would be an amazing opportunity. I never dreamed I would actually win it!”

Ella enjoyed a professional photo shoot at Energetiks’ Melbourne headquarters, and was able to take home high resolution images for her own portfolio as part of her prize. She was delighted to model Energetiks’ newest designs.
“The photo shoot with Energetiks was so fun. I loved getting my makeup and hair done professionally, meeting all the Energetiks crew and taking all the photos. My most favourite part was seeing the new collection ‘Crystal Tide.’”
Ella’s favourite items to model were the blue Crystal Tide mesh crop top and the fun triangular ‘Leah’ leggings. She picked up two outfits from the new Crystal Tide collection, the Mila lace leotard and skirt, a large purple dance bag, large eco bag, drink bottle, and Endurance Jacket.
“My most favourite was the black Endurance Jacket which I have worn every day since I got it!” she says.
Ella, who started dancing at the age of three and has been training at the Joanne O’Kelly School of Dance for the last eight years in Cecchetti ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, neo classical and Pilates, is not yet sure of her future dance plans.
“I love all styles, but my most favourite is contemporary,” she says. “I haven’t completely decided which direction I would like to take but I know dancing will always be a big part of my life!”
Like all of us dance fanatics, Ella loves the way dance makes her feel. “I love to dance because it makes me feel special. Performing on stage is the best feeling, especially when doing it with my friends,” she adds.
Ella looks forward to dancing with friends, and to making new ones, at next year’s Victorian Dance Festival. Energetiks and Dance Informa are both sponsors of the 2017 Victorian Dance Festival to be held at Melbourne Town Hall on March 17 to 19, and Ella will be the Festival’s 2017 Ambassador as part of her prize!
“I’m so excited!” she tells us. “I haven’t been before but I have always wanted to go. I can’t wait to join in all the workshops with lots of amazing dancers and teachers.”
