You’ve heard the rumours — and they are true! International ballet superstar Dusty Button is coming back to Australia and New Zealand to teach at International Ballet Workshops’ (IBW) summer 2019 “Blaze Your Own Trail” Series. Button, former principal dancer at Boston Ballet, first came down under with IBW’s winter 2017 season, and was so popular she just had to be brought back. Those who had the privilege of attending that season found out firsthand that this ballerina is not just an amazing dancer but also an incredibly fun and inspiring teacher.
“I am so grateful for the last three incredible days. Thank you, IBW, for bringing Dusty, this amazing artist, teacher, choreographer, entrepreneur and inspiring human being to our shores!” raved Ayesha, one of the students in the IBW winter 2017 season. And now the ballerina is back by popular demand.
Every six months, IBW brings elite ballet teachers to Australia and New Zealand to teach a series of two- and three-day workshops in various cities. Although the workshops are primarily learning experiences and not competitions, each series offers some special awards and international opportunities. Among those awards this season are a $1,500 International Travel Grant and $1,000 Professional Development Award (both courtesy of IBW), the Capezio Most Exceptional Attitude Awards and scholarships to future IBWs. More prizes will be announced soon, including some invaluable international connections and opportunities from Button herself. On her last visit, several dancers won scholarships to attend the BellaMoxi Dance Convention in the USA.
