You Can’t Miss The Australian Dance Awards!

The Performance Lineup has been Announced!

Artistic Director of the Australian Dance Awards, Anton, is extremely excited about this year’s program.

“The 2014 performance lineup at the Australian Dance Awards is going to smash the Sydney Opera House with some of Australia’s most amazing dance talent. Produced by Ausdance NSW, the night will showcase an incredible variety of work, hosted by Kip Gamblin and Frances Rings. The Sydney Australian Dance Awards are not holding back. We are going to ‘bring it’ Sydney!” he exclaims.

Dance Informa is the media partner for the Australian Dance Awards and we can’t wait to be a part of our industry’s night of nights!

NAISDA will open the evening with a Welcome to Country by current dancers and past alumni. We will then be treated to performances by Sydney Dance Company, independent contemporary artist Kristina Chan and The Australian Ballet, with a pas de deux from Cinderella.

Independent dance artist Andrew Koblar will mesmerise us with his movement practice of using sign language, and Sydney-based visual and movement artist David Capra will perform his Ministry of Hands solo.

The Lorcreado Contemporary Company, a troupe for young professional dancers, will present a specially commissioned dance installation and the elegant Robina Beard will gracefully glide across the stage en pointe.

Gheona Gela will rock the house with her G Styles and Western Sydney’s underground street champions Team 9Lives will fly high and deliver their unbelievable parkour skills.

And, to top it all off, for the first time ever three of the biggest dance schools in Sydney – Ev&Bow, Brent Street and The Village Performing Arts Centre – will come together to form a 30-strong dance troupe with Stephen Tannos to present a segment called SMASH IT SYDNEY.

The lineup for this year’s Awards is epic, as we come together to celebrate the artistry and excellence of Australian dance. Come and honor the nominees, applaud each win and enjoy a stellar night of dance performances on Australia’s most prestigious stage.

“All this and we still haven’t given everything away! Expect the unexpected, prepare to see some amazing dance and have some real fun along the way!” says Anton.
